Uganda packs an astonishing range of wildlife into a compact country, from open savannah to dense forest. Here are a few of the places our guides return to again and again.
The Classic Parks
Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls deliver the big game-drive moments, elephants, buffalo, antelope, and (with luck) tree-climbing lions, set against the Nile and the Rift Valley.
Off the Beaten Track
For something quieter, Kidepo Valley in the far north-east feels wonderfully remote, while Bwindi and Kibale add primates, gorillas and chimpanzees, to the list.
Tip: Early mornings and late afternoons are when wildlife is most active, and the light is best.
